Favorites from February 2010

March 14, 2010

While doing some digital organizing, I realized that I have only posted a small fraction of my favorite images from last month.  The bulk of my time was spent searching for the local bobcats.  Day-by-day, they have become more difficult to find and with warm weather in the forecast I think they will become far less active during the day.  Thankfully the warm weather should really kickstart the wildflowers and I hope to get out to as many of the hotspots as possible this season.

Funnel Cloud in Goleta!!

March 6, 2010

A short while ago, fellow photographer and friend, Bo Criss, alerted me to a funnel cloud/waterspout forming near UCSB.  I happened to be at Lake Los Carneros at the time and it was clearly visible.  Here are a few shots I took before it disappeared.

Flying into March

March 2, 2010

Wow, I can’t believe it’s already March!  It seems like 2010 just got started and here we are, less than two weeks away from Daylight Savings Time already.  Oh, if you’re a fan of seeing the sun in the morning, I have bad news for you.  Once we turn our clocks back, the sun will rise later than it did in the dead of Winter.  (At least that’s what my resident “Date and Time” expert has told me.)  In any case, here are some recent bird images to go along with the snappy title of this post.
