Roaming Around – Bobcat

It’s been just over a month since I last saw a bobcat at Lake Los Carneros.  (Fellow photographer Bo Criss has had all the good luck lately.) Thankfully the dry spell is over!  While pursuing some Snowy Egrets, uncommon at the lake, I happened to notice that I was being watched.  At first, all that could be seen were two golden eyes peering from the dead grass.  And those eyes are a big part of what make seeing these cats so special.  There is no greater experience than looking eye-to-eye with another wild creature and sharing a visual connection.  It was late in the morning and she was definitely on a mission to get somewhere safe before the fog disappeared, so she was quickly on her way.  I’m thankful to have gotten the handful of shots that I did and to have seen her again!

The right place at the right time! They are not so easy to photograph. Great job!

I agree, it’s difficult to get great photos and even harder to find them in the first place. It’s impressive how silent they are and how quickly they can disappear when they don’t want to be seen.
