Sea Lion at Campus Point

Last wednesday a small sea lion paid a visit to campus point at UCSB.  It spent several hours resting on a mussel covered rock, a very uncomfortable place for a nap.  So, we wondered if there might be something wrong with it.  I think it was just taking a break and found a safe place to sleep because by 5 pm it had left the rock and was swimming around west of the point.

  1. He seemed to be enjoying his stay. The watery backdrop is my favorite. Looks like he is about to get drenched (not that he’d care!).

Such great color, texture and form – I’m even more sorry that I missed out on that opportunity. Congrats on a beautiful series.

I also love the “Watery Backdrop” photo. The Sea Lion’s hide is just beautiful. It looks like silver satin. Delightful images of a majestic animal.
