Yesterday evening I ran into fellow photographer Bo Criss at Lake Los Carneros. We both happened to converge on the same Great Blue Heron; and while chatting, we missed getting shots of it catching its first gopher. Luckily the heron stayed put and caught another one minutes later. Instead of eating it immediately, the heron took flight and flew across the lake. Check out his site for more shots of the heron and many other great bird photos. Prior to running into him I captured a nice shot of a Great-tailed Grackle from above. The iridescence of the feathers really came out clearly in this particular photo.
