The past few years I’ve been consumed with capturing images of the bobcat at Lake Los Carneros. It was wonderful to find a second bobcat in the park last fall. But in all my wildest dreams, I never thought I would witness the two of them together, let alone capture these great images. The experience was amazing and particularly meaningful because I was able to share it with someone very special. I never tire of catching a momentary glimpse of them and I truly cherish all the time they have allowed me to share with them.
The female bobcat initially appeared by jumping out of the brush right next to the walking path and then, as cats do, walked nonchalantly across the path and down into the brush on the other side. The cat seemed to have a destination in mind and we gambled and moved quite a distance away and hoped it would keep heading our way. The gamble paid off and I got some great shots of it walking towards us. Then from out of nowhere the male appeared and they spent a short period of time right next to each other. A few minutes were spent near each other and then the female left to start her nightly hunt.
